Jonathan Smith
Managing Director
Jonathan leads the development of Kinetic’s profile and projects in the United Kingdom.
After a 35-year career in business, Jonathan became a founding director of Oxford University’s spin-out social venture, Skylark Works - a consultancy which helped “businesses wanting to do good and charities wanting to do business” – which was absorbed into Kinetic in June 2025 after a successful 30-month partnership
Jonathan positively impacted and touched hundreds of charities in the UK through his role as Head of Social Purpose for a leading fund management business, in which capacity he devised and executed an imaginative programme of corporate and personal philanthropy for the company and its owners which saw over £6m donated to deserving causes over six years. His five years at Skylark built on this experience working both sides of the philanthropic line with donors and charities.
A law graduate and former Business Ambassador for HRH Prince of Wales, current King Charles III, he co-founded the U.K. think tank, Charity Futures with Sir Stephen Bubb and was instrumental in the creation of the Gradel Institute of Charity at New College at Oxford University.
He has very strong ties with the wider charity sector in the UK and has served on numerous Development and Advisory Boards.
